The VibraVM is a new acoustic airway clearance percussors for relieving congestion in horses with acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
Horses with certain lung conditions accumulate secretions that harbor bacteria, inflammatory cells and mediators resulting in recurring infections, inflammation and destruction of the lung. Natural mechanisms and medications are often inadequate with persistent and recurring airway congestion.
In humans, chest physiotherapy is an important part of the standard of care for the treatment and removal of secretions which in turn, promotes healing. To date, chest physiotherapy has not been adopted in the treatment of respiratory conditions in horses because there was no practical method of delivery, until now!
The VibraVMTM uses sound waves introduced through the nose to breakup accumulations of harmful secretions in the respiratory system for easy expulsion. As a bonus, a certain type of sound produced relaxes constricted airways.
VibraVM standard model: This model has three modes: Low, High and Massage.
For large animals, start out with Low mode, and for smaller animals start with High. Low and High modes both have an automatic protocol of seven minutes, each with a preprogrammed range of frequencies, which increase every twenty seconds. In larger animals, as congestion is cleared from the larger bronchial tubes, then the High mode may be used to work down into the smaller structures of the lungs. The smaller the lungs or lung structures, the higher the frequencies.
